• CMTHS LOCKDOWN DRILL:  APRIL 24, 2019

    Dear Parents /Guardians:

The safety of your child and all students at Central Montco Technical High School (CMTHS), as well as the safety of the staff, is our highest priority. In order to maintain a safe environment for our students, it is necessary that we practice our emergency and crisis response plans by having drills designed to rehearse our procedures.

This year, we have already practiced fire drills and we will be conducting a lock down drill on April 24, 2019. The purpose of this drill is to keep the students safe from any danger outside or inside the building. A building lockdown requires that all doors are locked, when the emergency allows and all movement in and out of the building is restricted. The types of emergencies that could require a school to lockdown are: the presence or possible presence of an intruder; a dangerous situation taking place in the vicinity of the school; a hazardous spill or other type of accident that could pose a threat to the safety of staff and students.

Also, to help students, faculty, and staff be prepared to respond to a potentially life-threatening situation, Central Montco Technical High School has adopted the Run, Hide, Fight protocol as the official active attacker response.  Run, Hide, Fight offers three courses of action if confronted with an active attacker, making it easy to recall and act upon in an emergency:  run if you can, hide if you can’t, and fight as a last resort.  The Plymouth Police department is providing additional guidance to our staff on what to do during each step in the process.

The Plymouth, Norristown, and East Norriton Police Departments will be participating in our Lock Down drill to provide us with guidance and feedback. Before the drill, teachers will talk to their classes and walk the students through the procedures. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

    Sincerely,

    Dr. Angelia King
