Create-a-Cook es una escuela de cocina dedicada a enseñar a los estudiantes a cocinar a través de la confianza en sí mismos y la creatividad. El chef Jarrett K. Young y la chef Maria Crann imparten clases de cocina interactivas y educativas para todos los niveles. We are thrilled to share exciting news! Central Montco Technical High School (CMTHS) has been awarded a generous $25,000 grant from the American Water Charitable Foundation. This incredible support will enable us to purchase an advanced aquaponics system for our Landscape, Design, and Construction program.
Aquaponics is a cutting-edge, sustainable food production method that integrates aquaculture (raising fish) with hydroponics (soilless plant cultivation). In this system, fish waste provides essential nutrients for plants, while plants naturally filter and clean the water for the fish, creating a continuous, eco-friendly cycle. This innovative approach eliminates the need for chemical fertilizers and pesticides commonly used in traditional agriculture.
Instructor Mrs. Trocheck and Assistant Mr. Hughes, and their students, are excited to bring this project to life, offering students hands-on experience with sustainable practices and valuable industry skills. All produce grown through the aquaponics system will benefit our Culinary Arts and Baking & Pastry Arts programs and support local food banks.
At CMTHS, partnerships like this make it possible to provide transformative opportunities for our students. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the American Water Charitable Foundation for their commitment to education and sustainability. Your support empowers our students to excel in the fields they love and prepares them for a bright future.
We look forward to John Kelemen and Tom Chiomento from American Water to return in the near future to see the new aquaponics system completed and running.
