Barbering

 

The Barbering program prepares individuals to cut, trim, and style hair and facial hair. Students prepare to practice as licensed barbers in a professional setting. Barbering includes instruction in hair cutting, blending, fading, and style, utilizing clippers, scissors, and razors, shop management, sanitation and safety, customer service, and applicable professional and labor laws and regulations.

Course Content

The basic Barbering course requires 1250 hours of study and takes three years to complete. Students will learn the theory of anatomy of the head and face, chemicals, coloring, sterilization, sanitation, and safety precautions in the field. Students are also trained in the art of customer service.

 

The Barbering program teaches the most scientific approach with a focus on precision and technique. Students are trained in specializations such as texturizing, layering, fading, blending, color, straight razor shaving, beard and mustache shaping, hot towel treatment, and facial massage.

 

Students may participate in our internship program, which consists of spending several days a week working with community clients during school hours.

 

Students can demonstrate skills while working towards their goals for licensing requirements in the state of Pennsylvania.

  • NOCTI Barber PA

  • BarberPA License

  • Barbicide Certification

  • BarberTeacher

  • 555 Hours towards Barber License after completion of PA Cosmetology License

Post-Secondary Education

Graduates from the Barbering Program may attend:

  • Cittone Institute

  • Studio Makeup Academy

  • Montgomery County Community College

  • Kutztown University

  • Drexel University

Articulation

Students who complete the CMTHS Barbering Program, pass the appropriate Credentialing Exams, and documents current licensure, will be eligible to receive college credit.
