Course Description

CIP Code: 12.0401

Cosmetology/Cosmetologist

Step into the world of beauty and creativity with our Cosmetology Program! This hands-on course prepares students to become licensed professionals in hair, skin, and nail care.

Through expert instruction and real salon experience, students learn to cut, style, and color hair, perform facials and makeup applications, and complete manicures and pedicures with confidence.

Our goal is to help every student master both the science and art of beauty, preparing them for success in salons, spas, and beyond — or to continue their education in advanced cosmetology or esthetics.

Course Content

The Cosmetology Program is a 1,250-hour course designed to be completed in three years with exceptional attendance. Students receive a well-balanced mix of classroom instruction and hands-on salon experience following the Milady curriculum.

Classroom Theory Instruction

Students complete 5 hours each week of classroom-based learning using the Milady textbook.
Lessons cover anatomy, hair and skin structure, chemical theory, safety, sanitation, and Pennsylvania state laws and regulations.

Practical Experience
Students participate in 7.5 hours each week of hands-on training in all State Board–regulated cosmetology tasks. This includes hair cutting and styling, chemical services, nail and skin care, and customer service techniques.

Internship & In-House Salon Experience
Students gain valuable real-world experience by working in our in-house client salon every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. During this time, they perform services for clients under instructor supervision, building both skill and confidence in a professional setting.

Program Goal
The goal of the Cosmetology Program is to prepare students to sit for the Pennsylvania State Board of Cosmetology Licensing Exam after completing 900 hours of instruction.
Students continue through 1,250 hours to strengthen advanced skills and complete all licensing requirements.
