FFRMC Candidate Requirements

 

To be a candidate for this program a student must meet all of the following criteria:

 

  1. Be enrolled at Central Montco Technical High School (CMTHS) in the Public Safety Program of study & in 11th grade (will attend in grade 12).

  2. Be 17 years old by May of the 11th grade year.

  3. Receive recommendation from their Public Safety Instructor.

  4. Earning a, “A” in the Public Safety Program and an “A” or “B” in all high school academic classes.

  5. On grade level with the credits required to graduate from high school.

  6. Have successfully completed all Keystone Exam requirements (Alg I, Bio, & Lit).

  7. Exemplary disciplinary and attendance records at both CMTHS and their Sending High School

  8. Prepare & submit the FFRMC Application and professional resume.

 

Once Accepted, and to remain in the program, a student must:

  1. Be affiliated with a local fire department and sponsored for the program.

  2. Obtain PA Criminal Background, FBI, and Child Abuse clearances

  3. Complete all Capstone Co-Op work placement documents and Montgomery County Public Safety Training Campus (MCPSTC) forms

  4. Have reliable transportation to the MCPSTC.

  5. Agree to photos taken for media releases.

  6. Continue receiving a positive recommendation from the technical teacher.

  7. Continue receiving positive evaluations from MCPSTC staff.

 

If student is credit deficient, not affiliated with a local fire department, and/or has not completed all required clearances & paperwork by the 1st Friday in August, student will be ineligible to participate in the FFRMC program.  Student will attend the technical program at CMTHS.

Candidate Checklist and Due Dates 2025-2026 School Year

 

At All Times

_____  Maintain good grades, attendance and disciplinary record throughout the process

 

By December 19, 2025 (Before Winter Holiday)

_____  Attend information presentations in early December

_____  Review program qualifications and talk to your Public Safety Instructor. 

_____  Request a recommendation for FFRMC.  Do this immediately after the presentation. 

             (No student continues through this process without your Instructor’s recommendation!)

 

On or Before January 16, 2026

_____  Public Safety Instructor submits FFRMC Instructor Recommendation form for recommended students.

_____  CMTHS Counselor contacts and meets with students who have been recommended.

_____  CMTHS Counselor will send the FFRMC Application to the student.

_____  CMTHS Counselor will review FFRMC Application and answer any questions. 

_____  In addition to the FFRMC Application, the student must email a professional, program related resume to Mrs. Brower (CMTHS Counselor) when they submit the Application.

 

On or Before January 30, 2026

_____  Return completed FFRMC Application & your resume to the CMTHS Counselor.

_____  Prepare for FFRMC Candidate Interview

_____  CMTHS Counselor will request the following:

            _____  CMTHS Counselor Recommendation Form

            _____  Sending School Counselor Recommendation Form and copies of student’s attendance and

                       transcripts

            _____  Student’s IEP Case Manager Recommendation Form (if applicable)

 

February 16-27, 2026

_____  Participate in the FFRMC Candidate Interview with various CMTHS Staff.

 

Early April 2026

_____  Student and parents/guardians are informed of the admission status

 

May 2026

_____  New Student/Parent Orientation (Virtual evening event)

_____  Attend the Full-Day FFRMC Student Seminar at CMTHS in early May

 

May-Early August 2026

_____ Contact Co-Op Coordinator to complete training agreement and training plan

_____  Complete Montgomery County Public Safety Training Campus (MCPSTC) documents and paperwork
